Excelsior are on a remarkable run of form; they’ve won their last eight games in the Eerste Divisie, scoring 2+ goals in each of these. This excellent run has propelled them to an automatic promotion spot, finishing eight points behind runaway leaders, Volendam. 

They take on a Jong AZ Alkmaar side that hasn’t quite done enough to break into the playoff spots, with their defensive record on the road standing out as a reason why they weren’t able to enter the playoff discussion. Jong AZ Alkmaar have conceded 33 goals across their 19 away games this season (1.73 per game) - this is the highest total in the top 10 in the Eerste Divisie when comparing away records.

Cremonese are unbeaten across their last nine games in Serie B, their last defeat came against Cesena back in February. This strong end to the season has fired Cremonese up the table, and they now sit in 4th, just five points behind Spezia, who they could end up facing in the playoffs, so this game acts as a bit of a warm-up encounter. 

Cremonese boast one of the best away records in Serie B this season, they’ve avoided defeat in 13 of their 17 games on the road - only Sassuolo and Pisa boast better away records. Spezia have a slightly weaker recent record than Cremonese, losing two of their last six games in Serie B. 

The initial league meeting between these sides ended in a 1-1 draw, but the away side have not lost to Spezia in the last six head-to-head meetings, in a run that stretches all the way back to 2020.

These sides met a few weeks ago and played out a 2-2 draw. Westerlo were the stronger side as the underlying numbers suggest - they had 23 shots to Charleroi’s seven, and they also won the xG battle quite convincingly (2.13-1.07).
